Stein provides clients with advice on intellectual property rights with emphasis on patenting, drafting new applications and prosecuting these nationally and abroad on behalf of his clients. Having a background in Applied Physics he works mainly with technologies relating to physics, electronics, computers, analog and digital communications including microwave technology, and alternative energy, in particular wind power, and has also experiences within offshore, metallurgy and aquaculture.

As part of his work he gives courses for industrial clients in use of IPR with emphasis on the patenting system. In recent years he has increasingly worked on conflicts, particularly in infringement analysis and assistance in litigation, and has also been appointed expert lay judge in infringement proceedings before Norwegian court of law of the first instance. With several clients active in conflict heavy areas, he works actively with patent monitoring, third party observations, oppositions and oral proceedings.

He has been working as a patent attorney at Acapo since 2011 and has worked on patenting since 2006. Prior to this he worked in research, development and prototyping, in Norway and abroad, within academia, national research laboratories and industry.

He has a B.Sc. in Applied Physics and a Ph.D. in Physics. In addition he has completed the CEIPI course on the European Patent Convention, passed the EQE and can represent clients in proceedings before the European Patent Office. He is a licensed and qualified radio amateur (LA1HEA) and has thereby more than 30 years of experience in communications.
