Areas of Expertise
Kristoffer Weltzien is a partner and lawyer at Acapo Onsagers, with over 20 years of experience in translating intellectual property into measurable business value. From the Oslo office, he works closely with management, market- and innovation environments to ensure that IP is actively used as a tool for growth, differentiation and profitability.
Kristoffer's core competence is IP strategy and strategic management of intellectual property, with a particular focus on how companies can maximize ROI on their intellectual investments. He helps companies identify hidden assets, prioritize rights, and build cost-effective IP portfolios that support commercial goals such as market positioning, international expansion, and scaling.
He has extensive experience in supporting branding and rebranding processes, ensuring that new and existing brands are legally robust, differentiating and scalable across markets. This includes developing brand strategies, clearing new concepts, managing risk, and establishing structures that make the brand a long-term competitive advantage.
Kristoffer also assists with the commercialization of IP through licensing, partnerships and contract structuring, and ensures that companies both protect and capitalize on innovation. He has extensive experience from industries such as pharma and biotechnology, the chemical industry, food and the consumer/design sector.
With a background from the Norwegian Industrial Property Office, he combines strategic business understanding with regulatory insight, and provides advice that makes it easier to make the right decisions – faster and with lower risk. His role is often to be a sparring partner for management on how IP can be used more aggressively to strengthen the brand, increase market shares and realize the company's growth ambitions.
