Hilde Vold‑Burgess is a highly experienced intellectual property (IP) professional and Attorney‑at‑Law with more than 20 years of experience across IP strategy, trademark and design prosecution, litigation, and advisory services. She is deeply engaged in promoting the strategic importance of intellectual property to Norwegian companies and is a strong advocate for recognising IP as a critical business asset in achieving corporate missions, innovation, and long‑term growth.
Hilde joined Acapo in 2000 and became a partner in 2003. In December 2009, she was elected by the board to serve as Managing Partner and CEO, a role she held for more than a decade. During her tenure, she played a key role in shaping the firm’s strategic direction and strengthening its market position. In 2025, she led the successful merger of Acapo and Onsagers two of Norway’s most established IP firms creating Acapo Onsagers, a market‑leading IP advisory firm with a global reach spanning more than 130 countries.
Today, Hilde serves as Client Director and Head of Law & Technology at Acapo Onsagers. In this role, she focuses on delivering forward‑looking, commercially driven IP solutions for clients in the technology, industrial, and offshore sectors, combining legal expertise with strategic and business insight.
Before joining Acapo, Hilde worked for the Norwegian Government across a range of legal areas, providing her with a broad legal foundation that continues to inform her advisory work. She holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Bergen (1994) and additional degrees in European Market Law and European Community Law.
Hilde was recognized by Managing IP as one of the 50 Most Influential People in IP for 2025, reflecting her impact on the profession and her contributions to the evolving IP landscape in Europe and internationally.
